Because any piece of clothing, any jewelry, even any stylish hairstyle adds a variety of context to the image, allowing us to assume the social status, wealth, religious beliefs, sexual preferences of the character, etc. etc. Sometimes it is nice to remove all this, and just admire the beautiful human body (as we admire some wild animal like a panther) without worrying about what place this person occupies in society or even whether (s)he is our contemporary or lived hundreds or thousands of years ago.
