Looking at the Star

A local conflict is ongoing near the distant star Omega Serpentis. The imperial forces from Noseth, the biggest planet in this system, are approaching the planet Eyeth, a small planet which is home to the race of extremely flexible humanoids. The newborn prince of the planet would be killed if no measures are taken, so his parents decide to send him far away from the home star, secretly, in hope that he would return one day to gather the troops and overthrow the tyrants.

However, the only far away planet with nearly the same atmosphere as Eyeth, where the boy could survive, is the planet Earth near the star called Sun. It takes almost a year for the boy's space capsule to reach Earth, but the onboard computer gets hopelessly broken during the landing. Luckily, within a few hours the boy is found by the local farmers who adopt him and raise him as their own son.

The boy's extraordinary flexibility is discovered at a very young age and his dad establishes a tradition to take him to various public places where the boy's abilities could be shown off and people would pay to watch.

As he grows up, the boy starts having strange visions whenever he stretches into one of his most extreme positions. He sees two figures laying in positions even more extreme than his own, the figures talk to him in an odd but charming language. Week by week he learns this language and figures out that they are the ghosts of his real parents from the distant star.

The ghosts tell him to stretch as far as possible in front of a mirror and he soon notices a pale glow in the eyes of his reflection. His spectral parents explain that he had lost too many years on these feeble contortions and now he must train himself really hard, while it's still not late, to become twice as flexible and attain his True Form. Only when his eyes gain their brightest glow will he be able to return to the planet Eyeth to free his race of slavery and restore the order at Omega Serpentis.

Will he return to Eyeth as the prince of his own flexible race, or will he remain on Earth as a simple farmer's son with peculiar abilities?
