1000 Postures and a Posture
Started to draw this right after visiting an art museum with tons of classical kind of sculptures, you know the ones that ain't afraid to show a little bit of.. little manbits, haha.. so all those nude sculpts gave birth to this random idea, but the idea also gave birth to somewhat a story or something:
He was a a jester and an acrobat who lived a thousand years ago... The king that he was used to entertain got addicted to him and his lovely poses so much that he ordered a wizard to put an enchantment on the jester, turning his favorite clown into a statue.
The statue was magical, so if any kind of warmth was near it during a certain hour in the night, it would slowly warm up until stone turned into flesh. Having to stand in the same pose all day, the jester would first enjoy a series of good night-time morning stretches and then assume a new interesting pose and let the stone freeze him once again.
Naturally, he had all day to think of the next pose, thus the king could enjoy the sight of a new miraculous posture every day. After the fall of that kingdom, the statue survived several other kings, merchants, wars, until it ended up in an art museum where we can see it today...
But every night, once all the visitors leave and the guards fall asleep, the clown slowly warms himself up and assumes a different position.
Immortalizing beautiful and heroic people in stone was a common practice in the ancient civilization, most of the antique sculptures were in fact real people. For instance, if there was a great warrior, he'd be normally turned into a statue, so that he could be awaken when his service was needed once again. Sadly the secrets to awaken most of the sculptures were either lost or won't work anymore since the spell required full integrity of the statue's body and many of the ancient sculptures were vandalized. Not that the heroes of the past would be of any use today anyway.
