😎 Rubber Ninjas
Their fingers intertwined, the two young ninjas helped each other squeeze through the narrow opening. It was a tight fit, but they had learned to work together like this since childhood.
"I can't believe we've signed up for this," whispered Leif, his voice barely audible over the sound of their raspy breathing.
"I know," replied his partner, Liam. "But it's worth it."
The ventilation tunnel behind them led into the heavily guarded palace, where they planned to steal a priceless corset that once belonged to princess Isabelta, who was said to have had the most perfect waist of her time.
All the openings leading to this lavish artifact were impossibly narrow, as if Isabelta herself had designed them with the intention of passing her treasures only to someone truly worthy, the one flexible enough to squeeze their way through. Little did she know there would be not one, but two of these equally skillful young men.
The opening in front of them was even smaller than before, but there was no way around it – the guards would be alerted if they tried to find another entrance.
Leif squeezed through first, his wiry body contorting to fit into the narrow space that took a sharp turn, impossible for anyone to fit through unless they were a stuffed doll. Liam followed closely behind him, his lithe form sliding through with surprising ease.
As they emerged on the other side of the wall, Leif took a deep breath. "We did it," he whispered. "We've improved so much."
Liam nodded, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Yeah, we'd never have managed to squeeze through that gap when we were ten years old. It's ironic being eighteen and being able to fit through smaller holes than ten-year-olds."
"I think even five-year-olds couldn't make it through that," Leif chuckled.
"I know," replied Liam. "Imagine us in another ten years, both packed into one small suitcase that fits in the hand luggage."
Leif giggled, his face flushing with the thought of a space so tight. "Now I want to try that, thanks!"
"I know," replied Liam. "But let's focus on the task at hand. That thing has to be worth a fortune."
The two ninjas moved silently, looking around the place with trained eyes. The grand palace was even more opulent than they had imagined, filled with glittering chandeliers and ornate tapestries.
"Wow," whispered Liam, his eyes wide with wonder, pointing to the diamond-encrusted corset hanging from a pedestal in the middle of the room. "It's even tighter than it looks in pictures."
Leif grinned and nodded. "You know how tempting it is when I see a challenge like this..."
"I know," replied Liam. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
They moved with practiced ease, their movements so fluid that it was like they were dancing together – in tune and in step. Once back at the hideout, they held Princess Isabelta's corset in awe.
"We did it," Leif breathed, his heart pounding. The two ninjas hugged each other tightly, rubbing their masked noses together in a silent moment of triumph.
"I love you," whispered Liam, his eyes reflecting the depth of his feelings.
Leif's heart overflowed with affection for his lifelong friend. "I love you too."
"Thank you for being by my side every day," said Liam, then suddenly added. "And... and, your backside is just as fantastic, Leif!"
Leif put a hand over his mouth, trying to keep from laughing. "I will not forgive you for that one, Liam. I'll punish you later."
Liam grinned mischievously, "Promise?"
"Always." Leif said finally as he took Liam's hand in his own, their fingers intertwining as they gazed into each other's eyes. "I'm gonna make you try to slip into this thing before we sell it."
"Try? Do you really think I could fail?" Liam smirked beneath his mask. "Alright then, if I can manage that, then you'll have to try and squeeze yourself into my backpack, it's precisely the size of a handbag."
"Then you better succeed," Leif winked. "Because I'll sit on your face if you don't."
Liam chuckled. "I don't know which I'd prefer..."
Together they formed a perfect team that could navigate the tightest spaces with grace and skill. Their childhood's friendship had grown into something even more precious: a love deep as their waists, a bond unbreakable like their spines.
And they knew that as long as they could fit through anything together, they could squeeze through any obstacle, hand in hand.
