Early Morning
The alarm clock rang at six in the morning. He sat on his bed, trying to focus, pushed the button on the clock to disable the alarm. Sat there for a minute, then little by little started getting out of his pyjamas. Stood up to take off the pants. Completely naked, he stepped on the soft white carpet in the middle of his room. Slowly bent forward to touch his toes, while keeping the legs straight, then bent further and hugged his legs. His vertebrae produced a series of short popping sounds, warmth and light dizziness rushed to his head.
He held the position until the world became clear again, breathing deeply, then slowly returned back to the standing position, raised his hands in the air, put his palms together in the gesture of prayer and began to arch backwards, further and further, all the way until the tips of his fingers touched the carpet.
He patiently walked his fingers toward his feet, grabbed the ankles, pulled. His lower back pressed firmly against his butt's cheeks, the ribcage expanded more, the head went right through the legs. He held it for a couple of minutes, breathing, varying the pressure and studying the sophisticated ornament on the carpet to keep his mind distracted while his backbone was regaining its flexibility after the night of sleep.
He started getting back to the standing position, patiently unbending his spine at a very slow pace. His muscles were getting warmer and warmer. He slowly repeated the forward and backward bendings fifteen times, each time increasing the amplitude of his body's arch, until he reached his regular flexibility range achieved in five years of everyday exercises and could touch his buttocks with his forehead while bending forward and get his thighs under his armpits while bending backwards.
His breathing was calm but his extremely expanded ribcage was gradually getting defined more and more with every breath as he strained his body to bend himself a bit further. Soon his arms started to shake a little bit because of the tension and he took a minute break, trying to relax as much as possible. Without getting out of the backbend, he walked his legs next to the wall with a ladder on it and managed to grab one of the ladder's bars. After getting used, he grabbed a higher bar.
It took him almost five minutes to get close to the highest bar he could reach from the position, all his muscles were tense to the limit and his joints barely managed to keep his body parts connected. His body refused to stretch any more, but he could feel that the highest bar was only one inch away. His pulled himself together and stood on his toes to finally reach and hold onto the bar.
Once he managed to get a good grasp of the bar, the position became much more bearable. His heart was still pounding like crazy, he waited until his heartrate lowered under 100 bpm, then went back to stretching.
His slender but toned body shone with sweat. The skin on his chest and belly stretched so much that it was almost impossible to breathe while holding the ultimate angle, so every once in a while he would bend his knees slightly to release the tension, allowing himself several deep inhales, then straighten his legs again.
The amplitude of the stretch was increasing and he suddenly pulled himself so far that he heard a ringing sound in his head. He took a little break and tried to pull again but heard another one. He slowly sat on his bed, trying to focus. The alarm clock was ringing. He pushed the button on the clock to disable the alarm. It was six in the morning. Something was laying next to his pillow. He picked up a little picture. He found it yesterday on the internet, printed it and took it in bed for a closer study.
Without getting out of his pyjamas, he walked out of his room, went to the bathroom, peed, washed his hands and face, brushed his teeth. Went to the kitchen to prepare a light breakfast, then got back to his room and turned on his PC to blog that weird dream he just saw. The web bro still displayed that picture he printed yesterday. He dragged the picture to his blog and began to type next to it...
