🎥 Blurred Memories

As a child, I was always intrigued by contortionists and acrobats. Their ability to manipulate their bodies in ways that seemed impossible left me in awe. However, my fascination reached new heights when Alexey Goloborodko took the stage.

In 2010, he performed in the show "Voyage de la Vie," which I first saw on Youtube through ads and low-quality bootleg recordings. His impressive poses and movements left a lasting impression on me, and I've always dreamed of finding better footage of his performance.

Sadly, after more than a decade of searching, I have yet to come across any official DVDs or high-quality recordings of the show. The only remnants of this remarkable performance are low-resolution videos taken on phones. While these videos are better than nothing, it's unfortunate that such a unique contortion act has been lost to history due to poor recording quality.

As a result, I decided to recreate my favorite moment from the show, based on a low-quality screenshot. I hope you enjoy this image as much as I enjoyed creating it! :3

What do you think? 😄
It turned out beautiful, Alexey's face especially! You're not the only one who has always been intrigued by this mysterious performance. I think it was also the first time he demonstrated his ruppel bend publicly! Read more
I remember the first time I saw this video - I was amazed at what alexey could do with his body. That bend was so extreme. Read more
Alexey was also the person who attracted me to be amazed and almost fall in love with the whole subject of contortionism, the old videos of him when he practiced and when he appeared in talent shows are also wonderful. Since I was a child there was also an act, it was in a circus where I began to see this whole world of flexibility when a man made a frontbend, From there I was amazed with that, the most I managed to do was a frontbend also, but never at the level of contortionists, it is like a dream that I see recreated through other people or drawings like yours that I love. Very nice pic and apperciate the story. It's fun to go back and examine where interests began. I blame my flexi interest on those old stage magic/variety act tv specials that were everywhere in the 90s. I remember one about a guy so flexible he could move his heart and fit through a tennis racket shoving himself in a foot by foot box. Probably why I adore cute guys in very tiny spaces too. Read more

According to Gerd Rasquin, the first day when an adorable girl Alina Ruppel succeeded her special trick "Ruppel backbend" at a gym was 27th July in 2009. It's worth noting that Alexey also performed the same trick at a show in 2010!
Of course, I don't want to talk about boring naming rights disputes :)
I mean... we are living in great era! Read more
Well, Pretty Birds was drawn in 2006 and it was inspired by Fisfis, who had paintings and even sculptures of it made in the 1990s or even '80s, the pose was even in his comic drawn as early as 1987 if I remember correctly.

I was also told in 2005 that Alexey's coach used to visit my site and he showed my 2004-2005 works to then young Alexey for inspiration, but then all of a sudden he stopped visiting, claiming that my art "spoiled", "turned bad"... Too bad indeed, because if he followed my page for just 1 more year, he would catch "Pretty Birds" and Alexey could have taken his famous 2010 photo in 2006.

But it's all history now. If the naming was up to me, though, the pose looks more like an anatomical anarchy sign than anything :D Read more
